What do our event volunteers do?
Everything from planning a street party, to checking-in coats at a community barn dance, to preparing canapes for a reception for our funders!
We love to involve the community in our events whether it’s a summer street party or a Christmas Eve lunch for refugee teenagers. We need a whole range of skills in order to be able to run all these events.
What are we looking for?
Enthusiastic volunteers who want to throw themselves into a one-off event now and again but perhaps can’t make a long term commitment. Even having another pair of hands for just a few hours can make a big difference. Events are often in the evenings or at weekends so can be ideal for volunteers who work regular office hours and can’t get involved with weekday activities.
If you’re interested in being an events volunteer, simply get in touch and leave your details and we will contact you when we plan an event to see if you are available.
What would you gain?
Lots of fun! It can be an exhilarating and rewarding experience to work as part of a team running a community event. It’s also a chance to learn, develop or try out new skills. We pay reasonable travel costs and are always happy to provide a reference.
What do our volunteers say?
Anna Wakelin is a regular volunteer with The Choir With No Name and also helps out as an events volunteer when we need an extra pair of hands.
She says, “However my week is going, the familiar faces at Choir always lift my spirits – whether I’m helping in the kitchen or singing – and it’s great fun getting involved in one-off community celebrations and meeting so many new people”
