Thomas Sleeps Rough Outside Southwark Cathedral

On Friday 29th November, Thomas our Pastoral Assistant joined 100 others sleeping rough in the churchyard of Southwark Cathedral to raise money for The Robes Project.  The Robes project is the only homeless shelter between London Bridge and Croydon, and it costs over £80,000 to keep the 20 sites and 400 volunteers going for the coldest four months of the year.  It is estimated that 500 people sleep on the streets each night in London.

O Lord, you said that even animals had their own homes, but you had nowhere to lay your head.  Cover those who sleep on the street with your protection, surround with your love those who are ignored and rejected by the rest of us, and give us the strength and the will to do something to help them.  This I ask in Jesus’ name.  Amen.
